Chakras are the foci within our bodies where the energy which makes up our life force is generated. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel; a good representation of the spherical energy field the word refers to.
There are six main chakras that are stacked in a column along a person’s spine, and there is a seventh that is above them, beyond the physicality of the body.
We think of these Chakras as being composed of energy; but it is very important to realize that the Chakras are closely related to and have influence over your physical body.
A healthy alignment of all of the seven Chakras will allow you to maintain your own health and happiness during your life. It is important to understand what each of the chakras is, and what it does for you.
Muladhara
The Muladhara is the chakra of the lower body. It is the root chakra, or the base chakra. This chakra is related to security, to survival, and to instinct. Also, it is related to the potentiality of the basic human life. The center of this chakra is located between the anus and the genitals of a person.
This is the Chakra believed to be influential on the adrenal glands, producing the fight or flight response and other primal behaviors.
Swadhisthana
The Swadhisthana is the reproductive Chakra, also known as the sacral Chakra. This Chakra corresponds to the genitalia and controls sexuality and the creative urge.
This Chakra also governs the production of sex hormones and plays a role in producing mood swings. This Chakra is symbolized by a six petal lotus.
Manipura
The Manipura is the navel. It is considered to be the solar plexus chakra. This chakra deals with the transitions that are found between base emotions and complex emotions. The chakra itself is in charge of base emotions and complex emotions, and dictates the way that they flow into each other. It deals with the flow of energy, the flow of digestion, and can be compared to the way that the pancreas functions in the body.
The Manipura plays an important role in the way that food is converted into energy. It is symbolized by a ten petal lotus.
Anahata
The Anahata is the heart. It is responsible for complex emotions like love and also controls your equilibrium and overall well being. This Chakra corresponds to the thymus gland, located in the chest. It also corresponds to the immune system in the physical body.
This Chakra is symbolized by a twelve petal lotus
Vishuddha
The Vishudda is the throat. This Chakra is responsible for your faculties of communication. This Chakra corresponds to the thyroid gland in the physical body. This Chakra is symbolized by a sixteen petal lotus.
The growth is a form of expression, so the Vishudda is in charge of expressions. Communication is a very important part of your every day life, and therefore this chakra is in charge of it.
Ajna
The Anja is your eyebrow or forehead. This Chakra is the third eye. Ajna is responsible for your ability to visaualize and is the Chakra related to light, time and awareness.
This Chakra is also in charge of the sleep cycle. The symbol of this Chakra is a two petal lotus.
Sahasrara
The Sahasrara is the seventh and final Chakra. The Sahasrara is the most important of all Chakras. This Chakra governs consciousness and as such, it is also important to every other Chakra and every system in the human body. This Chakra corresponds to the pituitary gland in the physical body. This Chakra is symbolized by a thousand petal lotus.

Another Look At Chakra Meditation Therapy

The chakras (the word literally means energy wheels) are lined up along the center line, or meridian, of a person’s body according to ancient Vedic thought.
Certain mystical practitioners even believe the number of these wheels to be fourteen.
These begin at the base of the spine/genitals (root chakra) and extend right up to the top of the head (crown chakra).
In between there are: the orange chakra of the womb or belly; the golden chakra of the solar plexus; the green chakra of the heart; the blue chakra of the throat; and the indigo chakra known as the third eye, on the center of the forehead. The base chakra is red, and the crown chakra is violet right above the head but as its circumference extends outward, away from the head, it turns whiter.
As well as each chakra being associated with a particular color, they are numbered from one to seven with the base chakra being number one and the crown chakra being number seven.
Chakra one controls sexual health, physical strength and vitality
The second chakra is responsible for all of our creative powers.
Chakra three is responsible for our will power and desires.
The fourth chakra commands the energy of our emotional life and opens us up to giving and receiving love.
The fifth chakra gives us communicative power, loops our emotions in with our thinking, and gives us personal magnetism.
Chakra six influences a person’s intuition, psychic powers and insights, also referred to as the sixth sense.
The seventh chakra connects us with our higher power and the rest of the universe.
When people feel they are connecting directly with God, they are focusing the energies of their seventh, purple-white, crown chakra.
The chakra wheels naturally want to spin. If they are healthy and clean, they are spinning, and then they are providing you with the strongest, healthiest energies you can have. But if they become clogged, then they cannot spin and you will have problems or sickness in one or more of the areas outlined.
The secret to health is that these chakras should be balanced. In case even one wheel is more active than others, the result can be addictions, neuroses, obsessive-compulsive disorders or unintentional cruelty.
The chakras can become dirty and clogged through neglect or wrong living. If you eat a poor diet or have a negative or shallow attitude toward sexual relations, you will sully the first, red, basal chakra, and as a result you will suffer from ill health, or broken romantic relationships.
If you constantly think about dark things like working black magic against people, you’ll clog up the seventh, purple-white, crown chakra and cut off your access to the cosmic or the divine, leaving you feeling bitter, fearful, and empty.
A freely spinning energy wheel will be characteristically flexible. The human mind has the power to receive good vibes and ward off bad and negative ones. It is just like a hand, which can open and close when required but if broken, it will not function. Similarly a healthy chakra will open and close as per the vibes it encounters.
The way to use chakra therapy is to focus in a balanced way on each one of the seven major energy categories that each chakra commands. This should be done on a daily basis.
When you meditate, you will be able to pinpoint the chakra that requires cleansing. Thereafter just concentrate on making that energy category strong so that the energies are restored to their healthiest best.
Some people find it easier to meditate using a gem stone which is the same color as the chakra they are working on which allows them to get a clear image in their mind as to what needs to be done to make it healthier.
Many people find that the simplest way is to listen to the frequencies of each chakra in turn which results in your own chakras resonating with these frequencies, which then results in them becoming completely balanced.

Today many individuals have no clue to the significant existence of the spiritual being and physical being since modern science reduces this fact from their own minds.
Contrary to this are the thoughts of life by the Hindu that the flame of spiritual healing still burns vividly along with the advancement of technology and science.
There are many secondary chakras as well as 7 primary chakras in the body. In Sanskrit Chakra means Wheel of Light. All the chakras work together constantly vibrating and rotating within a healthy human body.
Therefore, any type of imbalance in the movements of chakras will result in an overall imbalance of a healthy functioning body. Chakra balancing then is essential for having a healthy mind, body, and soul.
These centers of activity, the chakras receive, join and then express our life force energy. Chakras are the entry points of the aura. They run along the mid-points of the body from the base of the spine up to the top of the head. These seven chakras attract and diffuse energies back and forth into nature, celestial entities, the universe, and other individuals.
What changes Chakra Balancing?
When one or more chakras suffer a blockage, there is no harmonious flow of energy. Such blockages will cause the chakras to suffer imbalance and in turn, these imbalances will begin to make themselves known in various areas of our lives.
The harmonious functioning of the chakras become unbalanced for various reasons such as, illness, toxic exposure, stress, an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise as well as childhood traumas, emotional injuries, an inability to express emotions, beliefs incongruent with Truth, cultural conditioning, and so on.

Since our body is a container for energy, it will constantly release and dispose of any spent energy throughout the cells and vital organs of the body. After doing so, it will then restock its reserve with new supplies of energy.
Chakra balancing helps to ensure that new energy is generating and sends the energy to all the vital organs and cells of the body for its optimal use, while ensuring that all parts of the body shares in this supply of new energy.
While in this most favorable state, happiness, health and inner peace naturally flow. Chakra balancing is simply bringing the Chakras back into their natural state of vibration.

The Essential Tools of Chakra Balancing Therapy

According to Hindu thought, chakras are the energy centers of the human body. These are the key points at which our life force move through the body and are what keeps our body and mind functioning properly and in harmony with each other. While you can’t see your chakras, the major chakras are closely associated with the major parts of your endocrine system (which is tangible).
Chakras are responsible for regulating the energy that flow into and from our body. This continuous interplay of energy within our body, the environment and objects we come in contact with ultimately requires that our chakras remain in balance in order to be able to function as best as possible for our benefit.
The seven major chakras are ties to the function of a particular gland in our endocrine system. Our chakras are tied to everything we go through; each feeling, sensation and experience we have are related to our chakras.
Physical, emotional and mental stress can cause imbalance in the function of our chakras and when this occurs we feel lethargic or show signs of physical illnesses. This illness is a manifestation that there is something not right about how our chakra functions.
Chakra balancing must be done regularly to maintain good health, just as regular maintenance is important to the proper functioning of a machine.
Importance of Chakra Balancing There are many different ways to balance your chakras; others are always being developed to help people reach a state of perfect balance in their chakras. This is the goal of those who want to have a more healthy, happy and productive life.
This all begins with an understanding that each chakra resonates to a different frequency; these frequencies are naturally occurring and help the chakras to perform their important function of transmitting and receiving energy; also known as prana or chi.
When we are ill, our chakras are not performing properly because they are out of balance. This can make our problems even worse; and a chakric system which is out of balance fosters ill health. Other than illness, an imbalance can be due to lack of exercise, stress or poor diet.
The balance of your chakras can, happily, be restored; although they will get out of balance from time to time, but this can be corrected.
Tools of Chakra Balancing: The methods which are most commonly employed to restore chakra balance are crystals and gems, light, sound, color and aromatherapy.
Colors: Commonly used colors and their corresponding chakras are red (root chakra), orange (sacral chakra), yellow (solar plexus chakra), green and turquoise (heart chakra), blue (throat chakra), violet (crown chakra) and white for all chakras.
Crystals and Gems: Gems, crystals and stones have been used in chakra balancing for thousands of years. Each chakra corresponds to a different color, as we now know; so the laying of gems or crystals of the appropriate color on the location of a chakra can help to restore balance. This can help the body properly heal.
The light reflected by these stones can also help by getting this light into the body (and your chakras).
Light: Light therapy uses light on the eyes, the meridian points used in acupuncture and the areas where the body has the strongest reflexes in order to deliver the proper frequencies to restore chakra balance. Light is made up of both visible and invisible frequencies, including those which are beneficial to the chakras. The spectrum of light is very broad, so this is an effective means of chakra balancing.
Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy uses essential oils, massage oils which are scented as well as scented bath soaps to help the body heal and to restore proper chakra balance. Essential oils can return mental and emotional stability to a person who is out of balance. Aromatherapy is also effective in relieving stress, promoting relaxation and can also assist in alleviating depression and helping one to reach a meditative state.
Sound: Sound therapy utilizes music, tuning forks, quartz, Tibetan singing bowls and other sound creating objects to create a state of well being and to generate frequencies which are resonant with the chakras. Sound has a natural soothing and therapeutic effect due to its direct appeal to the emotions. A beautiful sound can create a state of serenity, while a harsh, discordant on will produce anxiety. Sound can in fact bring about faster healing and a higher state of consciousness.
It once was that chakra balancing was a lengthy and difficult process. Now, thanks to innovations in audio technology such as subliminal sound, binaural frequencies and self-hypnosis recordings, chakra balancing is a much simpler thing than it was even a few decades ago.
